High School Sailing!-Waterfront Education
Join Waterfront Education and the King Harbor Youth Foundation for an in-depth, hands-on, challenging but exciting high-school level sailing course! Students will gain knowledge of basic sailing terminology(术语), parts and functions, helm(舵轮)commands, points of sail, seamanship, and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions(碰撞)and dangers. Students will not only grow as independent sailors but will also build teamwork skills as a member of the crew. Experienced sailors and educators from the King Harbor Youth Foundation will provide one-on-one training and direction for all of our high schoolers, setting them up to succeed both on and off the water!
This course will run two days a week for two 6-week sessions, giving students enough time to build their skills as a sailor. If students participate in the full 12-week semester for High School Sailing, they will be conducting 84 hours of sailing and coursework, qualifying students to earn a High School Elective Credit.
