The analysis of teaching material

The content of this class is the reading part of Unit 5, Meeting Your Ancestor, from Module 8, NSEFC. In the warming-up, students are intended to learn more about the antiques, and can talk about some historic treasures. Since the reading passage is a about archaeology, a strange topic to students, the teacher should emphasize more on explaining how the archaeologist carry on their work.

The analysis of learning condition

The students are from Senior 3 of Wenzhou Middle School, they have good learning habit of preview and their reading ability is quite good. So it should be easy for the students to understand. Therefore, the teacher should arouse students’ interest to discover and discuss more.

Teaching aims:

1. Review the uses of the Present Perfect Continuous Tense.

2. Enable the students to learn more about archaeology; anthropology as well as history.

3. Help the students learn how to read between lines and improve their reading strategy.
